Thoughts of care free days at the beach and long weekends at the lake, encourages us to change our wardrobes from toques and pants to summer hats and sun dresses. As we do so, its important to remember to change our hair care routines as well!  Like the rest of the human body, hair is affected by changes in temperature, sunlight, humidity, and other activities. The things that made  your locks lushes in the winter, won’t necessarily work in the summer. Remember, the hot weather means we can no longer grow traditional Canadian coats on our legs and hide our hair under hats when we are having a bad hair day!

To Wash or Not to Wash…

How often should you wash your hair in the summer? While some people choose to wash their hair on a daily basis, it is recommended to wash your hair thoroughly twice a week. Washing it too often can do more harm than good and strip your strands of essential oils.  In the summer time, this means dry, fizzy, limp hair.

The difference between a good hair day and a bad day hair can really set the tone for the day. Don’t be a slave to the wash, dry and style! Stick to the two days a week for a thorough wash, and use Batiste Dry Shampoo on the other days for a quick freshening up! If you haven’t heard of dry shampoo, I suggest you run, not walk, to pick up a can of Batiste. It works to instantly revive oily hair, leaving it looking and smelling clean and fresh. No wet washing required and most importantly no blow drying. The scents are amazing and I’m dying to get my hands on the New Batiste Dry Shampoo Cherry! Its is perfect for summer with top notes of pear, melon, kiwi and wildberry!

If you’ve never used dry shampoo before, don’t worry. It’s easy to use. Simply shake can well. Hold 30 cm away from your hair, section & spray into roots. Massage thoroughly with fingertips then brush and style as desired.

Healthy Locks are the Answer

Between the summer heat and a jam-packed schedule, it’s easy to let healthy eating slip by the wayside. For beautiful strong, healthy hair, your body need to get a daily supply of vitamins and nutrients to survive! A quick and easy way to ensure your body gets what it needs is by adding a multivitamin to your beauty routine. A complete multivitamin such as the Vitafusion Women’s Complete Multivitamin is a great option. It’s specially formulated to meet our needs and comes in an easy-to-take, delicious gummy. It includes Biotin and helps maintain hair, skin and nail health – ensuring you glow from the inside out this summer!

Don’t let your hair become GREEN with Envy from Pool Water

One of the greatest parts of summer is diving into a refreshing pool after spending the day baking in the sun. Sadly too much pool time can have your hair feeling like straw when wet and looking too shiny why dry. This is the result of a chlorine build up. Shampoo less often, with a deep clarifying shampoo can help prevent this from happening.

Waves and braids are in!

This summer’s hot trends for hair are braids and beach-y waves.  Braids are the quick and easy solution for a fashionable hair style for after a long day at the beach or pool. For beach-y waves, spray Batiste Dry Shampoo, then clamp a hot iron on a chunk of hair at the roots. Gently, turn your hair through it as you pull it towards the end (think of curling a ribbon). Not only do you get quick, sexy waves, but the dry shampoo removes the oils

Then there’s that hair that’s got to go.

No longer are socks and pants going to shield the public from stubble on our legs or other body parts. It never fails when I reach for pair of shorts, a tank top or a bikini (ok who am I kidding! I’m a mom of 3, its a bathing suit! lol), there is always a ton of unwanted hair crimping my style. Whether you don’t have time for a shower to remove the hair or you’re looking for an alternative to the razor,  Nair Nourish Crème for Legs & Body is the only answer! This hair remover cream contains Grape Seed Oil plus Antioxidant Rich Resveratrol.  Not only does it remove your  hair in as little as three minutes (yes, three minutes) while moisturizing to restore skin’s youthful glow, but it stays smoother for days longer than shaving*. Did you read that? Days!

Tip: Stock up! Keep a tube of Nair in your bathroom at home, in the bathroom at the cottage/cabin/summer home and a third one in your gym bag. The minute you spot the stubble, you’ll have it on hand. All it takes is three minutes and a quick shower or damp cloth to rinse! *READ MY NAIR HERO STORY  HERE
