The first thing I notice when a meet someone for the first time is their smile. A smile is like a picture and it speaks a 1000 words. A smile can tell you if the person is friendly, nervous, shy or not impressed. I think smiles are so important to me because growing up I didn’t have a nice smile. I was a thumb sucker from birth until way too old. As a result, I had buck teeth. I think I was in denial about my smile for many years, but when I began to focus on other people smiles, I realized something had to change.
I spent two years (and a lot of my parent’s money) to achieve the smile I have now and I’m very proud of it! Because I’m proud of it, I make it a priority to keep it looking bright, white and clean. I brush my teeth a minimum of twice a day with whitening tooth paste, I floss every other day (and as needed!) and visit my dentist regularly. Keeping this routine makes it easy to have a happy, healthy smile.
When I was diagnosed with celiac disease, 4 years ago, my dental circumstances changed. I began to develop cavities, which I had never had before I turned 30! Wanting to maintain my smile, I began brushing harder and longer to keep foreign particles from forming cavities on my teeth. Now I noticed another change; Pink in the sink! Am I brushing too hard? or is it something else?
