Growing up did you have a favourite animal?
Everybody has a favorite animal. Some like large golden dogs or magical unicorns or white snowy rabbits best. Others prefer lazy cows, country chickens or sleek black and white zebras. My DS8 loves PENGUINS. It was an animal he fell in love with as a toddler and has stuck with him to this day. He knows each of the different species of penguin and how to tell them apart. He knows their eating habits, how a colony (i.e. a group of penguins) interacts and how to tell them apart. He collects Penguin stuffies, reads Penguin books and is always interested in learning a new PENGUIN fact!
Here are 5 of his favourite facts:
1. Wild Penguin live exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere.
2. Penguins range in size from the tallest being 4 feet tall (Emperor Penguins). to the smallest, which is only about 16 inches (Little Blue Penguin).
3. There are 17 different species of penguins (His favourite is the Fairy Penguin).
4. The only penguin that can jump is called the Rock Hopper Penguin.
5. After the Mother Penguin lays an egg, she heads off to sea to find food and it is Daddy Penguin’s job to watch the chick.

Our opinion: The minute I saw this movie advertised, I knew it would be a huge hit with my penguin loving son! The bright and colorful animation style was pleasure to watch and drew the entire family together. I can see that this movie may not appeal to the older crowd (unless they are penguin obsessed like my family!) but it is sure to be a huge hit with a preschool crowd. The fun loving humor and family oriented lessons (being responsible for yourself and others, listening to your parents) foster a feel good story the entire family will enjoy! It is the perfect addition to any Prechooler’s Easter basket this year!
