It’s one month until Christmas! Normally this is my FAVOURITE time of year! Between decorating, baking, spending time with family and traditions, there is so much about the season to look forward to. Unfortunately, a black cloud has hung over our house for most of 2018, although I’m not ready to talk about it, it is something that affected my children greatly. Determined to raise the black cloud this holiday season and create a joyful holiday, I am looking for new ideas and inspirations to create the perfect Christmas for my children.
If you are faithful reader of this blog, you know that I am obsessed with traditions. I love having events and activities that the family can anticipate every year and enjoy as we get older In order to lift the black cloud this year, we are going to make a change! Some traditions will remain in places because they are so in grained in our holiday season that it just wouldn’t be Christmas without them, but this year we are going to make new traditions to help make the season merry and bright!
NEW CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITION
At the beginning of the season, the kids and I sat down to create a list of things we wanted to do this holiday season. There are many unique and interesting ideas. The older boys voiced their opinions on omitting some of the traditions that were “babyish” and came up with some new and interesting traditions that I had never considered before. One interesting idea that emerged from our conversation, was what to do on Christmas Eve. Normally, we watch a movie and track Santa, but the kids wanted something extra to add some fun to the night! This year, I decided a new fun Christmas tradition would be a brand new board game to open on Christmas Eve.
My family owns a lot of board games! We love playing them on rainy days, PA days or holidays to spend quality time together as a family. I began searching for the perfect board game to start the tradition. It had to be a game that would entertain everyone from 7 years old to adult. It had to be easy, yet challenging and it something we had never played before. When I came across Monopoly Cheaters Edition, I knew I had found the perfect game.
Monopoly Cheater’s Edition
Monopoly is a game I remember playing when I was kid. Its a classic and so much, but every time I played an argument would breakout about someone not paying someone or someone stealing money from the bank. Hasbro reports that nearly half of all Monopoly players try to cheat. Anything from stealing money from the bank, not mentioning when you land on someones property or adding a space or two to the dice you rolled to get on the square you are hoping to buy. Now it’s not that I condone cheating, but if it’s part of the rules, that just adds to the fun!
Monopoly Cheaters Edition is similar to the classic game, but this one actually REWARDS successful cheater! One of the biggest changes in the games is there NO BANKER. That means the money is lying out and easier then ever to take. The Cheater’s Edition comes with 15 cheat cards, You are actually encouraged to cheat and carry out different tasks throughout the game. The tasks can range from moving more or less spaces then it says on the dice, stealing money from the bank or stealing a hotel from a neighbor. If you complete the task without getting caught, you are rewarded with things like extra cash and free properties that will help you get a head in the game. If you get caught, you may have to hand over the money or get sent to jail, no passing GO, no collecting $200 and in this game you will wind up in handcuffs!
My kids had a brief opportunity to play this game when we visited the Hasbro House. They loved the concept and were so excited to get “caught” so that they could wear the handcuffs! We didn’t get the chance to play an entire game, but the kids had a great time reading the cheat cards and trying to get away with the tasks. This Christmas Eve, I’m bring the Hottest Trending Holiday Toys of 2018 to my family, Monopoly Cheater’s Edition.
Are good enough to get away with the task and not get caught?
