Spring is hopping by! I can hardly believe that Easter (although early!) is upon us this weekend. Easter is one of my fondest memories as a child. I remember dressing up in pretty Easter dresses and heading to my grandparents for the day. Upon arrival, my grandma would excitedly realize she, er the Easter bunny, had forgotten to hid the eggs and make a mad dash to the basement to hide a bag full of chocolate eggs. We always knew she was the one that hid the eggs (unlike the Easter bunny who left them at our home) and gleefully searched for them in the same hiding spots, year after year. After the great hunt was over, we were treated to an Easter feast! The entire family would sit around one long table and feast on hard boiled eggs, crepes, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit and orange juice. It’s a memory that I always treasure this time of year.
When I was planning the menu for my family’s Easter brunch, I realized I didn’t have any decorations to place on the table to make it feel like Easter. So my daughter and I got to work and created this adorable light up Bunny center pieces!
Light Up Easter Bunny Centerpieces
- 1 jar
- crimped ribbon in white (can be replaced with tissue paper)
- 2 feet of pink ribbon
- 2 googlie eyes
- 3 pipecleaners
- 1 doiley
- 1 pompom
- 1 strain of miniature lights on a battery pack.
Step 1: Place crimped ribbon or tissue paper in the jar.
Step 2: Place miniature lights inside the jar.
Step 3: Screw on the lid.
Step 4: Add googlie eyes, pompom and folded pipe-cleaner for the face.
Step 5: Cut two ear shapes out of the doily
Step 6: Bend a pipecleaner in half to fill in the center of the doiley, leaving 1 cm of pipecleaner loose. Bend that extra piece of pipecleaner and glue to the lid of the jar.
Step 7: Add finishing touches such as a ribbon along the bottom of the jar.
HAVE A HOPPY EASTER!!
