It always surprises me just how quickly spring and Easter sneaks up on me. One minute we are huddled under layers of clothing fighting off a snow storm and the next minute flowers are popping through the soil and the sun is shining. This year is no different! With the warmer than normal temperatures at the end of February followed by the cold and snow of March, its hard to remember what season we are transitioning into. Well I, for one, am sick and tired of winter and I’m ready for spring. To help me get in the mood, I’m going to recreate a wreath I saw a few years ago on a customers door and share it with you!
This easy DIY Umbrella spring Wreath is a total lifesaver when it comes to Spring or Easter Decor. Using supplies around the home and a few from the dollar store you can recreate this wreath in 30 minutes or less! Best of all, I can dress it up for EASTER then when Easter is over, remove a few pieces and I am left with a fabulous spring wreath!
DIY Umbrella Spring Wreath
- 1 Long umbrella with a curved handle
- 5-6 different varieties of fake flowers (include Greenery as well!)
- Wide Ribbon (approx 2 feet)
- Green Planters foam
- EXTRA: Bunnies or eggs on sticks.
Step 1: Begin your umbrella wreath by organizing your fake flowers in your hand. Chose 1 or 3 flowers to be the center of your arrangement. From there you will build outwards. Add smaller flowers in the front and larger flowers in the back. Add some greenery through out the arrangement to break up the colours.
Step 2: Once you are satisfied with you arrangement, cut the stems of all the flowers and greenery to the same length. Tie them together with an elastic or extra ribbon.
Step 3: Cut your planter foam in a 3″x 5″ piece and check that it will fit into your umbrella without causing it to puff out too much. If it does, trim it down smaller.
Step 4: Slowly insert your bouquet into the foam, adjusting the flowers as you go.
Step 5: Add your additional Easter decorations if you wish.
Step 6: Secure the entire structure together by ribbon and bow.
Step 7: Using the handle of the umbrella, hang your spring wreath up on the door and welcome spring in with open arms!
