Today is #GivingTuesday. It is the day when communities around the world, come together to give. It was founded on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday – two days that are focused on consumption and spending, to remind you of the importance of helping those in need. It is a day to reflect on the good things in your life and look for a way to use the positive things in your life to better someone else. Some people donate money to their favourite charities and others will help a friend or neighbor in need. It is a very difficult task sometimes, to put yourself aside to help someone else. It was very fitting that today is the day that I encouraged my kids to watch CARS 3.
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
Lightening McQueen’s winning streak, becomes clouded by circumstances he can’t change; He can no longer race and WIN against the newest competition. We follow Lightening McQueen on a self-discovery journey as he tries to decided what his purpose is. He was so focused on winning that he didn’t see the difference he could make in another’s life. An emotional journey from losing to not being able to compete to seeing the light, he finally learns that through his idol, Doc Hudson, he has the same opportunity to change someone else’s life. Lightning realizes that winning isn’t always achieved by being the first person to cross the finish line, but rather by giving away a piece of yourself.
This holiday season, grab a bowl of popcorn, a curl up with your family on a cold night and enjoy this family flick. Although it is the third installment of the series, I was pleasantly surprised with the development of the characters and how entertaining the story line was. As with every Disney Pixar movie the life lessons to be learned are priceless. Consider adding CARS3 to your little ones stocking this holiday season!
