One of my favourite Christmas traditions begins in early to mid November. Its before the tree goes up, before the radios are blaring Christmas music and before the hustle and bustle all begins. It’s the time we set aside to write our letters to Santa! Penning the perfect letter is no easy task and should be taken very seriously! From adding your Ps & Qs to a personal touch, it is very important that your be a task that you put your heart and soul into!
Here are some tips to creating the a GREAT Santa Letter!
1.. Get into the spirit! Set aside a day where you have time to get your creative juices flowing! Turn on some of your favourite Christmas music, put on a Santa hat and maybe even nibble on a Christmas cookie or Candy cane.
2.. Get out your supplies! Pens, paper, marks, scissors, Christmas cards, etc. Anything can be used to create your letter to Santa. When my kids were younger, I would give them toy magazines and help them cut out toys they wanted or help print out their list. They would always contribute with a hand drawn picture or scribble to show they put some effort into it as well.
3.. Remember your manners! When writing a letter to Santa always begin with DEAR SANTA then proceed with your ask. Santa is a big stickler for politeness and show of good manners. Please and Thank you goes a long way! A great way to begin your letter is to thank Santa for all the presents you received last year and ask him how he is doing. Then continue on to your wish list.
4. ~ FUN PART ~ Time to tell Santa what you hope for for Christmas! This is where you can let Santa know all of the toys and things you may have on your wish list. Remember! This is just a WISH LIST! It doesn’t guarantee that you will get everything on your list. Remember to be on your best behavior as Santa is always watching.
5.. Get Creative! Santa love nothing better than a personal touch to your letter. From drawings of him to winter scenes to your ideal Christmas scene. Whatever you draw will warm Santa’s heart and put a smile on his face. Add lots of colour, glitter and holiday good cheer.
6.. Sign off! End your letter with your FULL name. Santa gets thousands and thousands of letters each year from Children all over the world. To ensure he knows it is you, be sure to add your last name! (Think about it! How many people do you know with your name? How will Santa know who’s who?).
7.. Address your Envelop!! There are many different ways to get your letter to Santa. You can place it by a fireplace or on your night table, you can ask your Elf on the Shelf to deliver it, you can drop it off at your local Santa Claus parade or you can pop it in the mail! Be sure to address it as followed (NO STAMP REQUIRED!).
If you are hoping to receive a response from Ol’ Saint Nick, send your letter soon. December 11 is the last day to mail letters to Santa (it’s a long way to the North Pole and back!) in order to receive a reply before Christmas.
8. Believe! Sounds simple doesn’t it, but the magic ingredient in every letter is believing in the magic of Christmas!
Time is Ticking!! Only 1 Month left to get your letters in!! Happy Writing!
