Most of us have settled into the new routines that a new school year bestows on us. The busyness is likely underway in your house – school days, extracurriculars, prepping for the holidays, bringing in the fall/winter wardrobe (and longing for summer days again!). It can be a challenge to maintain focus on our health when our commitments pick up. Whereas most people battle colds and flu with the back to school season, I was introduced to VERTIGO.
It started off like every other Saturday. Horse back riding, errands and chores. After dinner, I had one chore left, cutting the grass, before I could rest for the night. I love cutting the grass, but that night it was super hot. Afterwards l cooled down with a cooler and went to bed early.
Around 2am, I woke up to use the washroom and felt the room spinning. I was tired and half asleep, so I put it off as a bad combination of too much sun and the cooler. Lying down the spinning didn’t stop, but I was so tired I feel quickly back to sleep.
The next morning I felt horrible. The room was spinning, I couldn’t walk two steps without falling down and I felt nauseous. Even lying in bed, I felt dizzy and disoriented. Sleep, aspirin, water and food did little to easy the symptoms. After a two agonizing days in bed and a trip to the doctors it was confirmed that I had Vertigo
Vertigo is a problem with your inner ear. It can be caused by trauma (car accident or head injury), a build up of fluid, an infection, and occasionally migraines. The type of vertigo that I was diagnosed with was BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) This occurs when tiny particles in your inner, called canaliths, build up in the canals sending false balance signals to your brain. The result can be dizziness, the feeling of spinning, swaying or tilting, the sensation of being pulled to one direction, sweating, headaches, and nausea.
It is a horrible feeling when Vertigo kicks in and something that you want quick relief from. All causes of vertigo need to be investigated by a qualified healthcare professional. However, during my last vertigo episode, I fought back with Orange Naturals Vertigo Homeopathic drops and Dr. Foster’s half somersaults. The Orange Naturals Vertigo Homeopathic drops helped to provide temporary relief of some of the symptoms such as dizziness, spinning, imbalance and ringing in the ears. Dr. Foster’s half somersault helped to re position the calcium deposits in the inner ear canal and move them to the chamber where they can be absorbed by the body.
Here is my demonstration of the Half Somersault:
