Growing up, I didn’t put a lot of stock into birthdays. It was a day that I turned a year older, ate the cake of my choice and received some presents. It was fun, but it didn’t really get the fuss. It wasn’t until I became a mom of my own, that I began to truly understand what a birthday actually meant. It is a day that a couple became a family, a family of 3 grew to a family of 4 and a family of 4 was completed with the addition of a girl. Now, whenever one of my children celebrate their birthday, I get very excited. The weeks leading to their birthday are thinking, planning, and strategizing, how I can make their birthday even more special than the last. From a mouthwatering cakes to treasure hunts to surprise decorations on the door; I’ve done it all. After 12 years and 3 children, its getting difficult to come up with crazy ideas. I want to make everyone feel unique and special on their birthdays, but this is beginning to put a lot of stress on myself. Thanks to Netflix, this year’s birthday hack is a breeze!
This September, Netflix is helping parents take their kid’s birthday to the next level (no Pinning or scrapbooking required!) by launching 15 on-demand birthday songs from your kids’ favorite shows. It is simply amazing! All you do is go onto Netflix and select your favourite character, sit your birthday child in front of the TV and Netflix will do the rest. Your child will be treated to a personal song from their favourite characters live on their birthday. With this new birthday hack, parents can surprise their kids on their birthday hacks without breaking the bank and create memories that they will never forget!
Here are some of the the new on-demand birthday songs:
I tested out this new program with my daughter’s sixth birthday. One of the shows she is constantly watching and rewatching on Netflix is Barbie, so I knew that she would be the right choice for my daughter. I began by decorating the kitchen with streamers, balloons and party hats. My husband made a beautiful unicorn rainbow cake and we waited for DD6 to wake up. Once she had gotten over the surprise of the kitchen we played the video. She was so excited to have her favourite character KNOW it was her birthday! It left a permanent smile on her face for the rest of the day and she told everyone she met about the best birthday gift from Barbie!
If you are looking for a unique way to surprise that special birthday child in your life, I invite to you to visit the On Demand section of Netflix and give your child the ultimate birthday hack (WITHOUT THE STRESS!)
