Growing up, we all have ideas of who we want to be. Some visions include jobs, families and material things, but other focus more on the way you want to be perceived as a person. I wanted to work in a meaningful job, I wanted to be one of those Moms who are best friends with their kids and I wanted to live a comfortable life. On the other hand, I wanted to be portrayed as a good person, a faithful friend and a good Christian. Never in all my dreams did I picture myself as a CHEATER! Just typing the word makes me shudder! I didn’t mean to! I just got so wrapped up in it!
OK! Let me start at the beginning! I was leaving for a work trip for a few days. My husband had started the new show called Frequency on Netflix and thought that I would enjoy it. He was already 5 episodes in so he suggested I catch up on my trip and we would watch the rest of the show together when I returned. When I arrived at my hotel, I had the first night to myself to get settled. I was exhausted after a day of travel and thought I would bring up my Netflix account on my tablet and chill. I started playing Frequency. The first episode was intriguing. I ordered a bit of room services, turned on the fireplace and changed into comfortable pajamas, then the second episode played. I was hooked! She said, he said, the suspense, the ripple effect, it was too much! By the time I knew it I was done the entire SEASON!! I felt horrible! What started out as a casual thing, turned into a night of CHEATING!
Thankfully, I have a forgiving husband, who didn’t mind as long as I re-watched (without commentary!) the remaining episodes with him!
No Relationship is Save from a Cheater!
Apparently, I’m not alone! According to a new study* released today by Netflix, nearly half (46%) of streaming couples around the world have “cheated” on their significant other when it comes to binge watching on Netflix. A great series? can’t sleep? Need to keep up with your coworkers for tomorrow’s water cooler gossip session? There are many different reasons that a spouse will ‘cheat’, aka watch a TV show ahead of their significant other, but one trend that seems to the same is the inflation of this behavior
Four years later, cheating has increased three times and has become a common behavior around the world. This behaviour only continues to grow with 60% of consumers saying they’d cheat more if they knew they’d get away with it. And once you cheat, you can’t stop: 81% of cheaters are repeat offenders and 44% have cheated 3+ times.
