Have you ever been offered an opportunity so great that you couldn’t turn down? What if it mean traveling to a strange city all by yourself? Would you do it? Could you do it? Travelling alone can seem daunting when you are reading an email from the comfort of home. What happens if you get lost? What if you loose your passport? What if you turn your eyes away from your bag for two minutes and someone slips something in bag? All these worries are valid, scary and plague all solo travelers as they embark on their first solo trip. But once you enter that airport, step out in a new city and see the sights, hear the sounds and smell the smells, those fears are quickly evaporated and replaced by the joy of the experience.
This weekend, my kids and I followed along as Pee-Wee took this giant leap on the the new Netflix original movie Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday. To make it more interactive, Netflix provided us with road map and souvenirs to commemorate each step as we followed long Pee-Wee’s first solo journey.
Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday
Growing up in the 80’s Pee-Wee was a household name. From his fun loving personality to his quirky jokes, he brought joy and laughter to many kids. After a long absence, he’s back and ready to live it up on his first ever holiday! Paul Reubens returns as Pee-Wee Herman in a Netflix Original movie: Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday!
Pee-Wee is a fun-loving guy who can find comfort in the same rituals and tasks everyday. Unfortunately, the world is ever evolving and moving forward without him. When his luck seems to get him down he has a chance encounter from a mysterious visitor (played by Joe Manganiello) which points Pee-Wee toward his destiny -NEW YORK- and his first ever holiday!
The Kids had blast with their treasure map and mystery boxes. We followed Pee-Wee’s adventure from Fairville to New York and reveled at the experience he had in between. The map was designed with specific “stops” along the way. Each stop was equipped with two photos and a mystery box. The mystery boxes contained scene related objects ( ie a Fairville pennant, the ultimate milkshakes recipe and collector ‘Netflix” glasses, chips, friendship bracelets and much more!) that allowed you to feel as if you were on the adventure with Pee-Wee.
I don’t think my kids have ever been engrossed with a movies as much as they were with this one. From the minute they donned their Pee-Wee suits the their final cheers with barrel beer (candies), the kids learned the importance of friendship, dedication and following your dreams.
If you are looking for a fun and adventurous Family friendly movie, I highly recommend checking out Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday on Netflix!
