Do you know why Leap Day exists? The Earth requires 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds to to circle once around the Sun. Since our society can’t exist on a 5.9 hr day, we have decided to include an extra day every four years to allow us to catch up. This results in every four years, our calendar year has 366 days in it rather than the normal 365. If we didn’t, after 100 years we would be 24 days behind the rotation schedule of the earth!
If you had asked me 8 years ago, if Leap Day was special, I would have shrugged and said it was just another day. I was pregnant with my second son and he was due on February 19. Well February 19th came and went. I continued to see my midwife regularly and was reassured that my baby was doing fine, but the darn baby would not move into position. Everyone joked, he loved his mommy to much or he was too comfortable to come out. I had a stress test ultrasound and it showed that my baby was happy and healthy. On February 26th, 2008 my dad called me up and told me he had the strangest dream. He said in his dream I called him up and told him, the baby was going to be a LEAP BABY! I laughed, praying the baby would come earlier than that. Well my dad was right! 5:35 pm on February 29, 2008 DS8 was born!
