Let’s face it, we all lie.
White lies is a minor, harmless, polite lie. We use them to make other feel better about themselves (Santa Claus is coming!), to get us out of uncomfortable situations (No you don’t look fat in that outfit!), to make our life easier for parents (the park is closed today) or to lead someone off the trail of a surprise. Young kids make up stories so that they learn the difference between fact and fiction, while older kids sometimes lie to cover for each other or to stay out of trouble. As long as the lies are not meant to hurt anyone, they can lead to wonderful surprises…..or NOT!
Birthday are a time for celebrating as a family. In my family, we love buying gifts, making cards, baking cakes and surprising the birthday boy or girl with a very special day. Today was DH’s birthday. He is one of the HARDEST people to surprise. Whether he reads my ever-telling facial expression when I attempt to tell a while lie or catches a whisper on the wind, he always seems to know what is going. Having kids involved in the surprise, makes it tens times harder!
This birthday, we wanted to surprise Daddy with a birthday cake. He works on Saturdays, so it gave us the perfect opportunity to bake and decorate the cake while he was at work. The whole time we were making the cake, I emphasized to my DD3, DS7 and DS9 that this was a surprise cake and they couldn’t tell daddy. Everyone agreed that it would be fun to pretend we forgot his birthday. They had grand ideas about what they were going to tell him and how they were going to lead him off track. The minute DH walked in the door DD3 ran up to him and said “We didn’t put sprinkles on anything!”. So much for our little white lie!

HAHA that is great! The white lie I have told is about my upcoming anniversary present! I am taking the hubs to Indianapolis for a huge event and have to keep dodging his questions!
Oh my gosh that is too cute!! I love streaming on net flix they have amazing shows to watch, and love that they have so much programing for kids.
Thats to cute lol!! I remember one year I didnt have the money for xmas til a few days after xmas So i told my son (who was still young then) that Santa was sick and the tooth fairy was taaking good care of him. and of course the email he got from “santa” helped proved my story! Other then that i am NOT the person to ask if something looked good or it made ur butt look bog unless you wanted a TRUTHFUL answer (u would be amazed on just how many really dont want the truth lol) me personally I WANT the truth. If I didnt I wouldnt have asked the question..to many times people tell you what they think you want to hear and not what they really think!
LOL, this is so cute!! You have such a beautiful family and Happy Birthday DH!!
Hahha what a cute story! That will be fun to tell over the years! Huge fan of Netflix!!
This is so cute and I’m sure my son would’ve said something similar. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve seen that Pothole episode of Chuck and Friends with my son 🙂
