When I was pregnant with child #3, I was sure it was boy. My symptoms were the same, my moods were the same, my cravings were the same, and my stomach was shaped the same. Not being one to wait for surprises, I couldn’t wait to find out what I was having at my 20 week ultrasound. When they told me and showed me it was a girl, I didn’t believe them. I refused to dream of trips to the spa, trips to the malls, having Girls only time or buy anything pink. Being a planner, this was a very difficult time. However, when I was in the operating room for my emergency c-section and they lifted that beautiful girl over the drape, my dreams of all things girly came true.
Flash forward 3 years, my DD3 is everything I could possible want in a girl. She loves to dress up in frilly dresses and do her hair, she insists on being my ‘twin’ and wearing the same colours as me and she loves helping me do everything (cooking, cleaning, fixing, disciplining her brothers etc.). One thing she was dying to do with me is go to the spa! Spas are luxury that I treat myself to once in a while, however, they aren’t necessarily something DD3 would enjoy. Back in April, we were invited to media launch at Glama Gals (See experience here!). Although, we only got a tiny taste of what it would like to be a Glama Gal for a day, DD3 was hooked.

Last week, after a busy week at work, DD3 and I took some much need Girl time and spend the afternoon at Glama Gals Ajax. It was all DD3 could talk about for weeks leading up to the big day. When the day finally arrived I thought she’d explode with excitement.
From the moment we walked in we were treated like princesses. We draped in exclusive Glama Gal housecoats and comfy slippers and whisked off to the treatment rooms. The air was filled with so many positive messages and a strong sense of girl power that helped wash away any stresses from the real world. The staff was amazing. They treated DD3 like VIP. They asked her questions about likes/dislikes, played her favourite princess music, let her pick colours she wanted and scents she preferred. I think DD3 liked being given the choice to create the experience she wanted. It empowered her and left with a sense of self accomplishment.
From the candy smelling hand and foot scrub that is homemade at their Newmarket location to fancy pink punch we were presented with, our girl time was one of epic bonding. DD3 and I sang, we laughed, we giggled and we had a fabulous time as we were pampered for over an hour. I don’t think DD3 stopped smiling the entire time!
The grand finale to our fabulous experience was to snuggle on a luxurious couch and get a memorable Mom and Daughter photo taken that was printed and presented to us at the end of our visit!
The Glama gal Motto says it all. Teaching girls to love themselves for who they are, to tackle any problem head on knowing they are loved and supported and to believe in themselves are some of the strong take away messages that I hope my daughter learns. Once again, DD3 and I left inspired and our bonded strengthened from our experience at Glama gals! Since that day, DD3 has talked constantly about returning to Glama gals and taking her aunts, Nanny and Mother for another fabulous Girls day out!
I think its official, We are Glama Gals for Life!
Disclosure: We are Glama Gal Ambassadors and were provided with complimentary services with the hopes that we would share our experience. All opinions expressed are our own!
