Car seat safety is no laughing matter. It is the only thing that protects your child in the case of a car accident. Being the correct size, age appropriate and installed properly can mean the difference between life or death.
I remember when my first son was born. I read the manual, practiced installing the car seat, Googled everything I need to know about car seats and was sure I was an expert. He was born in April and before we were allowed to leave hospital we had to have a nurse inspect our car seat. For fear of a draft, I dressed my baby in layers and tucked blankets all around him, only to be told my child wasn’t buckled properly in the seat. At the time, I was annoyed thinking I knew what was best for the baby, but when the nurse began pulling the extras out I saw how loose the straps actually were. Her lecture included what to look for in a car seat, how to position it and how to know when it was time to change types of car seats. It was an invaluable lesson that I will never forget.
I learned my lesson that day, thank goodness, because eight months later DS8 and I were in a car accident. The sun was shinning, the ice was think and I was in a strange town. One minute, I was listening to DS babble in the backseat and the next moment I was blinded by the sun off the ice and heard the crunching sound of metal. It felt like it happened in slow motion and I had no control over my actions. The only thought the flew through my mind was ‘Please God, keep DS safe!’ Only the car was damaged, but I was thankful for the advice that the nurse had given me the day we left the hospital as I’m sure it helped safe his life.
Today, I am on child number three and cars seat number 10 (at least!). Shopping for a car seat shopping can be overwhelming and difficult to choose. Today, I want to share the latest car seat we have added to our family!

Our review of the Nautilus Multistage Car Se
From first view, I loved the look of the car seat. It had neat, clean lines and wasn’t overly bulky like other car seats we have owned (when you are trying to fit three kids in one row its a very importation feature!). It was easy to install and felt very secure and stable. The fabric was a beautiful grey colour, which is great for hiding stains, and the padding was adequate to provide comfort to little bottoms (Best of all DD3 confirms it!). The cup holder and little cubbies were an excellent addition and made from secure plastic that would last through the car seats life time. One of my favourite features of this car seat is that it is designed to help keep your child in a harness booster longer and booster up to 57″ tall. Graco’s commitment to safety (extensively crash tested and side-impact testing) puts this mom’s heart to ease if there should be an unfortunately accident. I guess, third time is a charm!
