How are you settling into back to school? After two weeks, we are in homework mode, routines are being established and new friendships are forming. One thing, that I am surprised is missing from our normal back to school experience is Colds! If you read through statuses on Facebook, it isn’t surprising to see many mommies complaining about sick children. Families often see an increase in common colds and digestive problems when their children return to school. It seems back to school is synonymous with getting sick.
This year, we were able to make it through the first month illness free! Here are my tips on staying well this back to school season:
1. Wash, wash, wash your hands! One of the easiest ways for kids to get sick is through touching a contaminated subject and putting their fingers in their mouth! By encouraging children to wash their hands after using the bathroom, before eating and when they get home from school, you can help minimize the transfer of germs!
2. Drink water! Water is a body’s best friend. It helps hydrate your body and flush out toxins. It is recommend that children drink between 4-6 glasses of water a day. A fun way to encourage this is with fancy water bottles that provide easy access all day at school or adding fruit to their water to make it more appealing!
3. Healthy diets ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away!’ Helping children make healthy choices when selecting foods to eat is very important for their health and well being. Packed lunches should contain the correct portions for the 4 major food groups (milk and dairy, meat and protein, fruits and veggies, breads and cereals), while minimizing things that are high in fats or sugars.
Alas, no matter how many times your children wash their hands or consume healthy foods, germs will still find their way into your child’s body. If this happens, a Mother is always prepared and armed with Boogie wipes! Boogie Wipes are a new innovative product that gently clean and soothes runny, stuffy and otherwise tender noses with a natural saline wipe infused with aloe and vitamin E. With fun, refreshing scents, Boogie Wipes are a proven solution for unhappy noses.
It is bad enough to have a child that is feeling under the weather and as a Mother, I always feel helpless. But when the tool, I am providing them (aka the tissue) is turning their runny nose into a raw, sore nose, it breaks my heart. When my sons’ first tried boogie wipes they were surprised to find them wet. Reluctant at first, they used them occasionally. After several uses, they realized that the wipes helped to ease sore noses and the smell always brought a smile to their face. I loved that that my little red nosed children were happier and boogie free! This Back to School season, I am stocking up on Boogies Wipes, ready for any virus that crosses our path
