With only a few weeks left for school, my crew and I have begun to make a summer bucket list. This will be our first official “bucket list” as I’m normally a fly but the seat of my pants mom. What I realized last year is summer is way too short. I had grand dreams of taking my children to see this attraction and that, but unfortunately both time and money ran out. This year we are going to be more prepared! This year we listed the 10 Ontario attractions we wanted to visit and why! I was not surprised to see that the African Lion Safari was one of the first on their list.
African Lion Safari
Go ON SAFARI! Get closer than you ever imagined….to majestic lions, graceful giraffe, rhino and many more animals from around the world. Drive through 9 kms of safari trail in your own car or take an educationally guided Safari Tour Bus (additional cost). Your truly “WILD” experience also includes a full day of family fun with bird & animal performances, boat & train tours!
We went on our first African Lion Safari adventure last year with my Sister. Let me tell you, once is not enough!! There is so much to see and do, I believe that you have to visit the African Lion Safari several time to get a good appreciation of the entire park!
I remember driving up the park and being overwhelmed with all there was to see and do. Luckily, the staff were both friendly and knowledgeable and able to direct us where to go. Our adventure began with the Safari tour in our own car. I remember warning the kids that it would be probably be like zoo and the animals would be off in the distance. Boy was I wrong! Have you ever had a jungle cat walk in front of your car or an Ostrich that wouldn’t move out of the way? Well I can say I have! The kids had a blast! The drive was a blur for me as I was so conscious of the close proximity of the animals, but I do remember the hoots and hollers of my children as they joyfully pointed out their favourite animals. Next time, I think I’ll participate in the Safari Tour bus, so I can join in the excitement too!
The 9 KM Large game reserve Safari took us over two hours to do as we pulled off several times to watch the animals play among themselves. Afterwards, we were shocked to see the many other attractions available. The boys loved the “Nature Boy” scenic railway journey and DD2 was thrilled to ride the “African Queen” Boat. There was an education center to challenge the kids knowledge of animals, a playground to run out their energy, and more animals to view then we could count. What we didn’t anticipate was their splash pad, which would have been amazing as it was a stifling hot day!
As you can see, the African Lion Safari is a full day filled with jam packed fun, adventure and learning. The best part is being a CAA Rewards Member, I can receive 15% off admission tickets to African Lion Safari when purchased in advance at the CAA store Or a 10% discount when a CAA membership card is shown at the African Lion Safari front gate! Plus, if I purchase tickets at a CAA store I can also enjoy an additional 10% off discount coupon to redeem at African Lion Safari retail stores!
So when you are planning your summer bucket list with kids, I highly recommend going wild with the African Lion Safari!
