My first two children were boys! Having grown up in a family of all girls, I was thrown into a world of trains, cars, and monsters. It was unfamiliar, thrilling and very different from the childhood I grew up in. When my daughter was born, I was interested to see if she would play with the same toys her brothers did (because they were in abundance and available) or if she was stay true to her girly nature and play with dolls, dishes and dress up clothes.
Although my DD2 loves a good car race or tackling her brothers, she is definitely a girly-girl! She must carry a purse and doll with her at all times. She pretends to bathe them, feed them and treats them like a real baby (well most of the time!). Sadly, we have a few instances where her baby has been given real food or drink and stained the poor dolly. Being only 2, she didn’t understand that its not so easy to wipe a spilled drink off a cloth dolly as it is a real baby.
Water Babies & Weebabies
“Dream to Be”
Warm, soft, and cuddly, Waterbabies will seem to come alive right in your arms! RP Toys is delighted to introduce its Waterbabies® brand to a new generation of little Canadian girls
When filled with warm water, Waterbabies feel soft and cuddly just like a real baby. Dream to Be Waterbabies want to grow up to be someone special, and they do it in adorable, appealing style. Designed for a new generation of little girls, Dream to Be™ has six different styles that will warm your heart. Waterbabies are for every girl who wants to love and nurture a special doll.
The Wee Waterbabies are smaller dolls that come in an assortment of 6’’ pre-filled babies each with a water-themed headpiece and packaged in individual open platform boxes.
I loved the look of the water babies. They are life like and adorable. Their plastic skin is easy to clean, but provides adequate softness for hugs and snuggles. I love how they wiggle and jiggle in your arms and can be warmed up by changing the water. The perfect companion for ever adventure a two year old can go on (include the tub and pool!)!
DD2 took to her baby right way. She preferred the Wee Waterbaby because it was the perfect size to cuddle in her arms. She loved “tickling” the baby and watching “wiggle and giggle” in delight. Dressed in a cap and diaper, DD2 loves bathing her baby in the tub!
Wee and Waterbabies are recommended for girls ages 3+, but DD2 loved playing her Waterbabies so I think it depends on the psychological and social age of your child.
Waterbabies retail for CAD $19.99- 24.99 and Wee Waterbabies retail for CAD $9.99-12.99.
If you are looking for a special doll for a little girl on your list this holiday season, I highly recommend purchasing one of the cute Waterbabies! The dolls can be found at ToysRUs, Canadian Tire, Loblaws, and London Drugs.
