Have you ever picked up a pre mixed dip and read the ingredients? Having celiac disease, I have to read everything I put near my mouth to ensure that wheat is not hidden somewhere in the list of ingredients. Its amazing how we can normally read the first few ingredients (i.e. yogurt, tomatoes, etc), but by the time you get to the fifth or six ingredient, the words begin to become complex, lengthier and harder to pronounce. It makes you stop and think about what these “ingredients” actually are!
I am by no means a Suzy Homemaker. I love to tinker in the kitchen and I love creating new, tasty gluten free treats. When it comes to preparing dinner, on the other hand, its usually 5pm, my DD2 is screaming “hungry, hungry!” while hanging onto my pant leg and I’m wondering what I am going to serve my family for dinner. Most time I search the freezer or fridge for something quick and easy to prepare. There are tons of quick and easy pre-made meals on the market, but many of them contain more fillers then actual fresh ingredients. When I’m looking for a product in a pinch, I reach for one that will allow me to create a healthy, quick meal.
Wholly Guacamole is an amazing homemade dip found in the vegetable section of your grocery store. That’s right I said VEGETABLE section! It’s fresh and chalked full of healthy vegetables. There are only 5 ingredients in this dip (and all of which I can pronounce -Hass Avacados, Jalapeno Puree (White vinegar, jalapeno peppers, salt), Dehydrated Onions, Salt, Granulated Garlic), but rest assure it has all of the spice and flavour that you crave in this Mexican dish. The goal at Wholly Guacamole was to create a made-from-scratch flavour at a ready-to-use convenience. When you bite into a mouth of guacamole you will not tastes preservatives, additives, gluten or trans fats, instead you are treated to true flavors and the 20 vitamins and minerals found in fresh avocados. At 60 calories, 5 grams of fat, and 90 mg of sodium a serving, it makes a great snack, topping to a hamburger or addition to any meal
When eating a dip like Wholly guacamole, you need the perfect dipping partner! When I think of chips, I think of fatty, empty calorie snacks. Sure, they taste good, but we all know that they are NOT good for our bodies. When I was introduced to Beanitos, I was very curious to see what they were like. With 6 g Protein and 6 g Fibre, they are definitely a healthier partner then your common chip. The shocking part is Beanitos are corn and potato free! Created from a unique combination of whole beans, whole grains and rice, they satisfy the need for a crunchy chip, but provide you a better nutritional option!
Chipotle BBQ – A bit of heat and a lot of flavour.
Blackbean with sea salt – A strong chip crunch, with hint of bean
White bean and sea salt – Your classic corn chip flavour, with the added benefit of beans!
Nacho White bean- a cheesy flavour you’ll love
