Last year was the first time I attended a blogging conference and I didn’t know what to expect. Are you suppose to wear business clothes? Is business casual ok? Are you seated all day or is there a lot of walking to consider? Needless to say I was clueless! I asked around prior to the event and felt that I was adequately prepared. You have to remember when you attend a blogging conference you want to make good impression. You are meeting fellow bloggers (possibly future campaign partners?), brands (future sponsorship opportunities) and business tycoons. You want to make a good impression and represent yourself in a positive, professional manner.
With that being said you also have to remember that a conference is usually an all day or all weekend event. It will make it hard to engage, absorb and participate in the discussions if you are extremely uncomfortable. Taking the business attire route for my first conference, I learned that the comfort is just as important! Comfort shoes to walk in, pants that let you sit for hours without pinch your stomach and attire that is able to adjust to the climate (i.e. over air conditioned rooms or hot stuff rooms) are the three top aspects to consider when selecting what to wear.
What to wear to Blissdom Outfits
With Blissdom less then three weeks away, I have begun assembling some outfits that I feel will be appropriate for this blogging conference. This is why I choose them!
1. Falling for Brown and Teal
This outfit is one of my favourites. The color of warm brown and muted green are perfect for the fall season. The shirt is loose and flowing which makes it comfortable and breathable to wear to an all day function. The pants are made out of a dressy material which contains a stretchy factor making them very comfortable for prolonged sitting. The necklace adds a decorative flare to spice up the outfit. The gold snake skin shoes are stylish and add a bit of bling to the outfit. However, I would be very selective when I would wear this outfit as the shoe can cause foot pain if worn for more than 6 hours. This would be an outfit I would wear to opening ceremonies that are short and sweet, but allows me to make a strong first impression.
2. Royal Purple
This outfit is my go to outfit when I want to look stylish and be comfortable at the same time. I love my stretchy pants as they are the closest thing to sweatpants that are appropriate in a professional setting. The jeweled neckline saves me time and space in my duffel bag as I do not need any jewelery to complete this outfit. Paired with a matching shrug, this outfit is perfect for drafty boardrooms or warm conference areas. Although the boots have a heel, they are one of my favourite pair of shoes and I can wear them for long periods of time without experiencing foot pain.
3. Comforting Teal
Again, one of my favourite aspects of this outfit is its level of comfort. The shirt is tied just below the bosom area providing a flattering A-line look. The stretchy material in both the pants and the shirt, allow for comfort whether seated or standing. Paired with flat ballerina slippers, I can walk long distances or stand for long period of time without being uncomfortable. The addition of the silver coin necklace adds a little of sparkle and flare to the outfit.
Remember to have fun selecting your conference outfits! They should be professional, comfortable and reflect your style and taste.
Which of the above outfits is your favourite?
