The Scent of Freshly Washed Laundry
Walking down the laundry aisle at the grocery store can be overwhelming. Long gone are the days where you only have to choose between brand types when picking the best cleaning laundry detergent. Now you must consider things like fabric softener, stain removers, static control, scent etc.
What do you look for when selecting a laundry product?
After searching for a product that is tough on stains (a MUST for any Mommy!), I look for a great smelling product. I have always been one of those people who loves to surround themselves with nice smelling products. A nice, subtle smell can brighten and freshen any mood I am in. That being said, I look for light, airy smells as harsh, heavy smells can give me a headache and activate my allergies.
When it comes to doing laundry, I tend to leave it all for Saturday and Sunday and try to get it done at a marathon pace. I hate laundry and often find myself forgetting to flip it from washer to dry. Have you ever done this and gone to take your clean, fluffy towels out of the washer to find they are moldy and dank smelling? I’m famous for that! As a result, I tend to look for laundry products that are quick to use (i.e. go in the same time as the laundry soap) and have a long lasting scent.
A new laundry scent~ # DownyUnstopables
Downy Unstopables is a brand NEW laundry scent booster. Just add a cupful of the dissolving scent beads directly into the washer drum and your clothes, sheets, and towels are infused with a light, fresh scent. It is safe to use with all colors, fabrics, load sizes, and can be used with or fabric softener (whatever that is! lol). It claim to fame is that it’s scent will lasts longer than 30 days.
I love this product so much! I love having right-out-of-the-dryer fresh clothing and being able to have that a week later is amazing! In my opinion it works very well. Clothing that was washed, dried and hung in the closet, still smelt great a week later, my sheets that were used daily retained their smell for several day, and clothing that was left a little longer then normal in the washer retained the fresh smelling scent rather than converting the typical moldy scent.
The Look: I was very excited to test out the Downy Unstopables NEW Spring scent. When I first received the product, I was very impressed with the bottle. It had a sleek, attractive design. The unique “squeeze & sniff” bottle design allows you to select your favourite scent quickly and easily and the peek through window allows you to see the colour and size of the scent beads inside. Not only does the bottle have a cup lid for measuring the right amount of scent, but it has additional snap lid to prevent spillage if the cap isn’t replaced. This is also a great safety feature to discourage little children from mistaking it for candy.
The Smell: Downy offers 4 amazing scents
Spring: A lasting boost of the same April Fresh scent you love.
I tested the Spring scent and I loved that light, clean and fresh. It reminded me smell of a new garden on a cool day.
Usage: It was very easy to add Downy Unstopables to my weekly laundry routine. Simply pour a cupful of Downy Unstopables into your washer when you add your clothes and laundry detergent and let the scent beads do their magic. When transferring my load from washer to dryer, I noticed that the scent was very vivid (as is my normal laundry detergent), but when it came out of the dryer it was still present (where as my normal laundry detergent is always muted). Although, I haven’t been using Downy Unstopables for 30 days, so I can not attest to whether or not their claim is true. What I can vouch for is that the smell did remain in things like clothing hung in the closet, towels that were used many times, and the sheets on my bed for many days. I love the added burst of freshness that Downy Unstopables added to my laundry and it will now be a permanent, pleasant part of my weekly laundry routine.
