If you want to talk cars in my household, you talk to my husband. I know how to drive them, how to get them out of a 3 foot high snow banks, and how to install car seats, but besides that I’m clueless. My husband works in the automotive industry so it just made sense in our relationship to put him in charge of the buying the car and accessories (i.e. tires) and the maintenance of the car. As long as I got to pick out the colour of the car and had a good stereo, I was happy.
When my kids came along I began to look a little more carefully at my vehicle. This was going to be transporting my babies, my pride and joy. It has be safe and be able to protect my children, if God forbid, we were in an accident. I began questioning my husband about safety features and learning what makes a safe, reliable car. I learned that the five key safety features on a car include seat belts, airbags, Anti-lock brakes, headrests, and TIRES.
When I was asked to be a PTPA Sailun Tire Ambassador, I jumped at the chance to learn more about this key safety feature. I thought a tire was like a pair of jeans. There were different sizes that fit different people (cars) and the only real difference was whether or not you paid the big bucks for the brand name. Boy, was I wrong! There is a lot more to tires, then just burning rubber!
Sailun Tires manufactures and distributes various types of passenger and light truck, medium radial truck, and off-the-road tires in all major markets throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Sailun ‘s international teams have the ability, knowledge and long term strategies to expand in the tire industry.Building on real world testing and continuing to develop a motor sports proven product, Sailun will continue to build the most advanced and cost-efficient platform for tire manufacturing and distribution, while utilizing its information technology and substantial research platform to help establish new tire enterprises.focuses on 3 key areas when producing their tires:
- Quality – Grips to the road, handles tight turns and withstand use
- Safety – Ability to stop on a dime and allow quick maneuvers
- Value – Get a quality tire, for less money.
There is only one true way to test a tire. That is to DRIVE IT! The Sailun Tires crew wanted to make sure that we fully understood what their tires could do. We were taken to the track, given a professional race car driver as our instructor and presented with two cars. One had Sailun tires on it, the other had high end tires. We were not told which car was which. There was tight turns, last minute decisions and fast breaking. I must say I was scared to death to attempt the course the first time, but thoroughly enjoyed the experience when I was in the moment!
The race car drivers showing us what the tires could do:
Not having a lot of knowledge about tires, I didn’t really expect to notice a difference between the two cars on the track. Car 1 was amazing. The traction was amazing, the wheels hugged the road, but allowed quick turns and the ride was very smooth. Car 2 was almost as good. I did find that tires felt lose and it didn’t stop as quickly or as steadily as Car 1. When the test was over, I realized how important having a quality tire is. A tire needs to be able to break, steer and handle well in order to obtain maximal safety. I was surprised to find that Car 1 was Sailun! Sailun had the performance and safety I wanted at a price I could afford. Although buying a tire is a personal choice, I highly recommend you test Sailun and experience the value yourself!
