I came from a family of all GIRLS. I have two sisters, all my cousins are girls and all my friends growing up were girls. When I became pregnant the first time, I hoped for a boy. I wanted to experience the unknown universe of a boy. Not only was I blessed with a boy for my first pregnancy, but for my second pregnancy too!! I love the world of boys! I love the toys, the clothes and the behaviours that are typical of boys.
When I became pregnant for a third time, I wished for a girl. Not only did I feel it would round out our family by providing extra dose of estrogen in my testosterone filled house (fyi the dog is male too!), but I was looking forward to doing ‘girly’ things with my daughter (i.e manicures, pedicures, and hair styles, etc).
I was thrilled when I was blessed with a beautiful, healthy girl for my third pregnancy! I love dressing her in cute dresses, skirts and anything frilly. Unfortunately, my DD has my genes and she was born with little to no hair! Many times I have been asked by strangers whether my child is this a girl or a boy? My dreams of cool hair styles has been put on hold for awhile, while we wait for her hair grow in! Luckily I know an amazing blogger, Faces by Farah, who has created the perfect product which provides the girly flare I wanted to add to my daughter’s lack of hair!
Let me introduce you to Little Miss Bows and Bands!
Listed as one of the top ten all-Canadian beauty bloggers by Flare Magazine!!
Little Miss Bows and Bands is a newly created company that is taking the infant hair design fashion world by storm! The owner, Farah, began this company shortly after her DD was born. Like my daughter, her DD didn’t have a lot of hair and Farah began searching for fashionable headbands and bows to add flare to her daughters outfits. Everything she found was either over priced or would end up costing an arm and a leg to order more than few. With her crafty style and her love for D.Y.I., Farah took the drawing board and created beautiful bows and bands for her daughter. After seeing pictures of her adorable daughter wearing one of her designs, requests from other moms began coming in! This interest lead to the birth of Little Miss Bows and Bands!
For my review, I was able to choose the band I wanted to test. Thinking I knew exactly what I was looking for, I was overwhelmed by the different designs and the sheer beauty of the band. I had a hard time choosing! I settled on the Flower band (there would be NO mistaking my DD1 for a boy!).
I have owned a few headbands in the past that I bought at craft shows and whatnot and they have fallen apart within minutes of wearing it. My daugter’s first reaction when anything is placed on her head to to grab it in her chubby fingers and yank it off. Although she did try with the Little Miss Bows and Bands Flower band, there was no damage to it at all. It lasted through repeative yanks and pulls and managed to still maintain its shape!
One of my favourite parts on the band is more functional then fashionable. Most bands have the flower glued (usually by glue gun) onto the band. Although it secures the flower, it leads a rough patch that digs in and leaves marks on my daughters head. Without hair to cover it up after the band is removed, she is left with red patches. Little Miss Bows and Bands took it one step further. Not only is the flower secured, but a soft felt patch is added to the back of the flower, removing any rough spot that may cause irritation!
When it comes to buying hair fashion, I try to keep costs down. As mentioned above, my DD1 is constantly grabbing at her “pretty”, and as a result we are constantly loosing hats and hair pieces. If there is the possibility that DD1 is going to be ‘throwing away money’ I don’t want to spend a lot in the first place! Little Miss Bows and Bands’ prices are incredible! Prices range from $1.50 (band only) to $10 (crochet hat and bow) depending on how elaborate the design is. This is amazing! The quality and the product super exceeds the price! I feel totally comfortable purchasing these for my daughter. I feel like I will still be upset if one is lost, not because of the price, but rather for my love of the band!
I loved the band I reviewed so much, I featured it in my Easter photo shoot with my DD1!
One lucky 1Heart1Family reader is going to get the chance to #WIN these two amazing bands:
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free from Little Miss Bows and Bands. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
