Every night before bed, I open my closet door and shudder. Each day the pile grows and grows. Each day I’m filled with more dread. Then Saturday comes. The laundry bin is over flowing and threatening to take over my room! If you know me, I can’t stand a clutter (Thanks Mom for passing on that gene!). The thought of the clutter drives me bonkers! I hate laundry! I hate the washing, the remembering to flip it in the dryer, remembering to remove it from the dryer before it wrinkles (I don’t iron either! That is another post in itself!), and putting it away. I hate it so much that I leave it all week, trying to forget about it, until Saturday rolls around and I know I have lost the battle. Each Saturday, I spend most of the day washing, drying, folding and putting away laundry.
When I was offered the chance to try out Woolzies, I wasn’t sure what to expect. How could a tennis ball looking, wool ball help dry my clothes and reduce dryer static? When I started research how they worked and how they would benefit me, the more surprised I got! I learned that the regular fabric softeners (both liquid and sheets) that I uses to use contained harsh chemicals. Not only are these chemicals harmful to the environment, but they can also cause serious allergic reactions, break down the fibres and destroy the fire retardant qualities in your clothing! Here I thought I was just adding a fresh scent to my clothing and reducing static electricity!
Woolzies are 100% natural wool dryer balls. They are hand made so their texture, shape and colour may very from ball to ball. Woolzies are unique in the way they dry your clothes with out the use of chemicals or synthetic products. They are designed to dry you clothes by naturally separating and creating spaces in between your laundry, thus allowing the hot dryer air to better circulate. The more the hot dryer air that circulates through your laundry, the faster your clothing dries! Woolzies cut drying times up to 25% in large loads and 35-40% in small loads. Less drying time means more money in your pocket, the satisfying feeling that you are protecting the environment, and more time on Saturdays to play with the kids!
So you may be thinking? Why Woolzies? Why not using my son’s tennis balls? Other rubber and plastic balls, such as tennis balls, are made of harsh chemicals which are released and stain you laundry when they come in contact with the hot dryer air. Additionally, the weight and rubber composite of those balls can result in a rough tumbling action which can damage your dryer’s sensitive electronic sensors. Woolzies are made from the finest wool, they are hypoallergenic, they don’t shed and they definitely don’t melt!
I was thrilled with my Woolzies experience. Their claims of shorter drying times, less static on your clothing and fewer allergic reactions were 100% on target, however I was disappointed that they weren’t scented. I love the fresh scent of my old fabric softeners! I found that if you add a few drops of essential oils to your Woolzies and place them in the dryer, you achieve the same effect AND you choose the scent! You will be amazed at the results!
