Fall is one of my favourite times of the year. When the air starts to get cool, we move indoors for crafts and baking fun. There is so many ways to get crafty with fall. From the holidays to the bright colours to the scents, just about everything I touch or see inspires a new craft!
This past Sunday I go a day off! Now I’m not just talking about work, I’m taking about a whole day in my house with no kids, no husband and nothing to do. Of course my first reaction is to panic (I hate being alone, but after a quick trip to the dollar store, I was bursting with ideas of how to fall-ify my front entrance. I decided that this year, instead of buying an already made wreath this year, I wanted to make my own. With 5 minute, a cup of apple cider and a glue gun, I was able to personalize the perfect fall wreath for my family!!
Fun Fall Wreath
- Wicker Wreath
- a Garland of coloured leafs
- cork letters
- extra fall decorations ( I used a fake cattail)
Step 1: Do a practice run!! When using a glue gun you have to work smart and fast to ensure that you get a good, permanent hold. I think this is the longest step in my process, because I spend a lot of time making and unmaking the wreath to get it just the way I want. (HINT: Take a pic on your cell in case you botch it later!)
Step 2: Once you have the ideal design, gently take it apart and heat up the glue gun.
Step 3: Weave the leaf garland around the wicker wreath. I suggest doing it loosely so that you can maneuver the leaves later on to position them just right. Once you have found the ideal position, glue them on.
Step 4: Add your letters to the wreath. Search for areas that are spacious and don’t contain too many leaves. I like my lettering on an angle for dramatic flare.
Step 5: Add additional festive fall decorations to fill in sparse areas or add a focal point. I balanced the words with the cattail.
Hang up and enjoy for the Fall season!!
