Valentine’s Day is a week away and the stores are bursting with Valentine’s Day chocolates, decorations and gifts! A new holiday means my kids have been bugging for us to do another seasonal craft. Not wanting to venture out in the cold and snow to said store, I searched our craft drawer for inspiration. Paper, Stapler and a few odds and ends were all I found. With a little imagination and creativity I came up with this beautiful Valentines’ Heart Chain Wreath.
Kid’s Craft: Valentines’ Heart Chain Wreath
Step 1: Cut your construction paper into 1 inch strips, about 5 inches long. I used red, but you could use any of the classic Valentine’s Day colors, pink, white and red.
Step 2: Fold each strip in half.
Step 3: Keeping the strip folded, place a staple just above the crease.
Step 4: Bend loose ends around to meet each other (it should create a heart shape).
Step 5: Place the two loose ends of the first strip in the center of the ‘v’ of the second strip. Attach them together with a staple.
Step 6: Repeat this pattern until you have completed the rest of the strips (approx 14 in total).
Step 7: Attach the final loose ends to the first heart center with a second staple. Set wreath aside.
Step 8: Attach a bead to a one inch piece of wire.
Step 9: Create a hole in one of the hearts and slide wire through leaving beaded end, hidden underneath.
Step 10: Once the wire is inserted, add a gold loop and two more beads. With the left over wire, create a loop. Insert a string and create a loop to hang your wreath up with!
Hang it up and Enjoy the season!
