Finally, after weeks of cool, below-normal temperatures and daily showers, Summer has finally arrived! The sun shone bright, the air caused immediate perspiration on your skin and pools just begged to be swam in. Summer in all its glory! With that in mind, lets talk about Christmas!
I know it may be a little shocking to be thinking about Christmas in July, but it is a standard trend in retail. Whether it is Valentine’s Day products gracing the shelves the day after Christmas or Back to School (insert-WHOOP!) items popping up in your favourite box stores in July, being a head of the season ensures that the consumer are aware, prepared and well stocked for the upcoming holiday season.
A few weeks ago, the 1Heart1Family gang was invited to Toronto to check out the hottest HASBRO toys for the upcoming holiday season! Essentially, it was like Christmas in July! I must congratulate the Hasbro team on a job well done! Not only was the product arranged and presented with care, but the selection was amazing! Parents save your pennies because there are some pretty awesome toys coming out!
Its not a surprise that Elmo and Sesame Street continue to be a huge trend this year. They lovable characters have stood the test of time and still inspire, educate and love our children as they once did us! Playskool has also adapted some of their older toys and made them compact, more interactive and colourful. DD2 loved playing with these toys and raced around the room on the sit and stand Giraffe!
I don’t know what it is like in your home, but in mine, little brother always wants to do what big brother is doing! Hasbro helped Moms out by creating a line of Super Hero and Transformers that are made for little hands (less movable parts, easy to use, chunkier properties) that look and resemble the same toy that their Bi brother would play with. Being a Mom who doesn’t have much luck with the whole transformer thing, I loved the one click transformation!
My Little Pony and the Littlest Pet Show characters are back! Two of my favourite childhood toys are back and better then ever! The My Little Pony collection has added fun new friends (like the water globe looking one) and a unique way for you to build and customize your own MLP friend.
Nerf guns, Star Wars, Transformers and Super Heroes are all the rage this year. Nerf guns have taken their standard dart gun to a whole new level. From the ability to record and replay your battle scenes to walking remote control robots to arrows, Nerf has created the tools you need to ensure success on the battle field. Star Wars are making a grand entrance with DS6’s favourite toy of the season: Miniature Star War figures (similar to green army men). These toys allow you to recreate movie scenes, set up battles and the motorize vehicles allow you to take out entry armies with one rev. Transformers and Super Heroes provide hours of entertainment with their Mash-up abilities, new characters and movie quality figurines. Lights, sounds and action guaranteed to get and hold any boys attention.
Animated pets, crafts and Playdoh was very popular. One of the coolest products Hasbro has brought out is a product called Da Vinci -Doh. This playdoh like substance is placed in a syringe and can be applied to the pictures provided or any other craft surface. Similar to icing a cake, you can mold, model and create patterns with different nozzles and techniques to create different pictures. After 24 hours, it hardens and creates a master piece!
Although, there are only 156 days left until Christmas, I am extremely excited to see some of these Hasbro toys hiding under our tree this year!
