A stroller is a Mom’s best friend! Having had 3 children, I have learned it is one of the most essential pieces of baby equipment on the market. It carriers your child when they are tired, it straps them in when they need to be confined and it doubles as a shopping cart! Choosing the right stroller is a very important decision. In some ways, you can think of a stroller as your child’s first ‘car’. The trouble is finding the stroller that works best for your family and meets your stroller needs. Although you may think you know what you want in a stroller (i.e. comfort, durability, and safety) there are many other features you may not have considered! I have had over 8 strollers throughout my journey of Motherhood. Some were bought out of necessity (i.e. a sit and stand), some were bought with extensive research and others were given to me as presents (i.e. baby shower).
I was curious to see which features were most sought after when purchasing a new strollers so I did a survey of 10 women to see what their top three stroller features were. Here are the results:
From my survey, it appears that the top three features that Moms look for when choosing a stroller are as followed:
EASY to open and shut- If you are a mom, you know you are rarely doing one thing at a time. Usually you are balancing your child on your hip, opening the stroller while carrying a diaper bag, a purse, a snack and the baby’s bottle. A good stroller can be easily opened or shut with minimal steps and can be done quickly and efficiently.
Storage Area – Traveling with a baby is never a simple grab and go process. Let’s face it babies need a lot of stuff! A large storage area is essential to carry all things baby and whatever groceries or additional things (i.e. sand toys for the park) you may need to cart along!
Size – When choosing the size of a stroller, Moms tend to focus on two elements: weight and the ability to easily store it in the trunk of their car.
Now that my youngest child is almost two, I don’t require a large stroller. What I do need is a stroller that is easy to transport, provides a seat when little legs get tired and a comfortable place for my DD to nap when we are on the go. When I was given the opportunity to review the Chicco Echo Stroller, I was interested to see if it would meet the expectations of myself and other Moms!

It would work well for your 20-month old and can accommodate my 4-year old too.

-Removable canopy with summer option
-Locking mechanism on Closing feature
Pros: After having owned 8 strollers in the past 8 years, I must say this is one of my favourites. I loved that it was easy to put together, it was sturdy enough to withstand the weight of DS5, but is light enough for me to lug around. I love its compact size and handle that allows me to easily store it in the trunk of my car while leaving room for additional things like groceries, diaper bags etc. I love that it functions like an umbrella stroller but maintains features of a larger stroller (i.e. padding for comfort, cup holder for the parents and a large storage bin). I found the stroller very easy to maneuver and recline with one hand (this comes in very handy when toting three kids around!). Opening and closing this stroller was a breeze! I love that there is a locking mechanism on the closing aspect of the stroller. I have had other umbrella strollers where curious siblings push buttons and they have collapsed the stroller with their other sibling inside. The 5 point harness is essential to prevent tipping of the stroller and allows you to use this with babies as soon as they are able to hold up their head on their own.
Cons: Since this stroller is made for an older child, it does not provide you with the ability to attach an infant carrier.
Conclusion: I truly love my Chicco Echo Stroller and wish I had learned about it when I had my first child! I love the comfort and security it provides my child while providing a light weight, easy to use stroller for me! I’m also happy to report that it meets all of the expectations from my poll about what Mom’s look for when selecting a stroller.
